Panic gripped residents and motorists on Thursday night after suspected gunmen abducted two residents during an attack at Kobape in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
PLATFORM TIMES reprots that the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m., throwing the community into confusion as the armed men reportedly fired sporadically into the air, forcing residents to flee for safety while motorists abandoned the road.
The abducted victims were identified as Kelvin Moyegun and Kehinde Rufia, while Yinka Obadimu narrowly escaped from the attackers.
Narrating his ordeal, Obadimu said the gunmen fired at his vehicle before he managed to escape, adding that the attackers subsequently whisked away the two victims to an unknown destination.
“They shot at my car before I managed to escape. They fired sporadically before taking the other two away,” he said.
The attack caused widespread panic in the area and disrupted movement along the busy Kobape road as frightened residents and motorists scampered for safety.
The whereabouts of the abducted victims remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Ogun State Police Command were unsuccessful, the messages sent to the Police Public Relations Officer was yet to be responded to.
Residents have appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims and strengthen security patrols in the area to prevent further attacks.
