Nigerian American engineer and Harvard graduate, Yinka Ogunbiyi, has developed HaloBraid, described as the world’s first braid-assist robot designed to reduce physical strain on hairstylists and save time for salons.
The United States Mission in Nigeria disclosed the development in a post on X on Friday, highlighting Ogunbiyi’s innovation and its growing interest among salons.
According to the mission, HaloBraid has already raised $7 million, while more than 7,000 salons have joined the waitlist for the technology.
The US Mission wrote: “Nigerian-American engineer & Harvard grad Yinka Ogunbiyi built HaloBraid, the world’s first braid-assist robot, easing strain on stylists & saving salons time.
“$7M raised, 7,000+ salons waitlisted.
“American innovation, global impact.

The development marks growing interest in the braid-assist technology, with thousands of salons already indicating interest in the innovation.
