The National President of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Marwan Adamu, has expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with the judiciary management in Osun State over the lingering industrial action by the state chapter of the union.
This was disclosed by the Osun JUSUN Chairman, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, in a statement issued after the union’s monthly congress held in Osogbo on Monday.
According to Adeniran, Adamu stated that the resolution of the strike largely depended on the genuine commitment of the state’s judiciary management to address the grievances of JUSUN members.
“The National President of JUSUN has extended an olive branch, indicating a willingness to engage in dialogue with the judiciary management. He has expressed openness to meeting and discussing the pressing issues affecting our members, provided that the management is genuinely committed to finding a resolution,” the statement read.
Adeniran, however, condemned the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, for what he described as her “egregious display of indifference” towards the ongoing strike.
“The congress vehemently condemns the Honourable Chief Judge’s lack of concern. Her abrupt departure from the state on the day the strike commenced, coupled with her continued absence, demonstrates a shocking lack of commitment to engaging with JUSUN leadership.
“Instead of addressing the pressing concerns of judiciary staff, lawyers, and the general public, Her Lordship chose to travel abroad. This blatant disregard for the welfare of those who serve the judiciary and the people is unacceptable,” he added.
The Osun JUSUN congress commended the Osun State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), led by Comrade Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, for its solidarity during the industrial action, as well as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for its efforts toward resolving the dispute.
The congress also condemned attempts by the judiciary management to assign JUSUN members to security duties, describing such actions as inappropriate and outside their employment terms.
Osun JUSUN had embarked on an indefinite strike on September 19, 2025, demanding the release of pending 2024 and 2025 promotions, as well as improved welfare and working conditions for its members.
