England are through to the World Cup last 16. A brace from Harry Kane ensured the Three Lions surged past a stubborn DR Congo side, 2-1.
The Leopards had taken an early lead just seven minutes into the game, but Kane stepped up when it mattered, scoring twice in under 15 minutes to shatter DR Congo’s hearts and prevent one of the biggest upsets at the World Cup.
Brian Cipenga stunned England when he fired DR Congo into an early lead, but Kane finally hit back for Thomas Tuchel’s side midway through the second half before rifling in the winner inside the final five minutes.
England has now set up a World Cup last-16 clash with co-hosts Mexico.
