Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to plans by Washington-based lobbying and advisory firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., to file a $36 million lawsuit against him and President Bola Tinubu in the United States.

The firm, which works for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, announced the planned lawsuit in a post on X on Wednesday.

Reacting in a statement on Thursday, Fani-Kayode questioned why Karl Von Batten, needed to be “cleared and authorised” to sue him and the President.

He dismissed the planned lawsuit, saying he was not concerned about the legal action.

He also accused Von Batten of making allegations against Tinubu, the Federal Government and himself without evidence, including claims that they planned to kidnap, detain, physically harm or kill him.

Fani-Kayode said, “Ikemefuna (AKA Mrs. Karl Von Batten) says he has “been cleared and authorised” to sue me and @OfficialABAT for 36 million USD and to impose a visa ban on us in the US, UK and EU.

“I am laughing in Hebrew. Ikemefuna, who “cleared and authorised” you to embark on this adventure?

“Was it the warden that locked you up in 2003 when you were convicted? GOSH, I am so scared that I am shivering in my socks!  Yet I wonder why a grown man like you needs anyone’s permission to sue?

“36 million USD ko, 36 million USD ni! I have no words for a shameless clown & ex-convict like who has been contracted by Atiku Abubakar to distract our President, our Government & me from the crucial work that we are doing and the presidential campaign that lies ahead. Can’t you find something better to do?

“First you allege that you were offered a 3 million USD bribe by those you described as “agents of Tinubu” and now you allege that the President, the Federal Government and I are planning to kidnap you, subject you to extra-judicial detention, physically harm you, unleash acts of terror against you and kill you. What on earth are you smoking?

“Outside of getting prayers for deliverance from the demons that have seized your diseased mind, I urge you to see a medical practitioner and get help for what can only be described as mental illness.

“Two days ago I responded to your asinine allegations in my article titled ‘Why Is Karl Von Batten Hiding Under His Bed?’ and pointed out how absurd they are.

“I again challenge you to provide the evidence of these threats from me, the President and the Federal Government & MAKE THEM PUBLIC.

“For the record I do not care what you do and I am not losing any sleep over your threats.

“You have accused President Tinubu, the Nigerian Government & me of being part of a corrupt, criminal syndicate and enterprise that are involved in transnational terrorism and that physically harm, kill & kidnap people without any evidence.

“Outside of that you have accused our President of being a convicted drug smuggler despite the fact that he has never been indicted or convicted by any court of law.

“Nigeria is not a Banana Republic. Our Government does not target, kidnap, harm or kill opposition figures and are not involved in any acts of state-sponsored terrorism.

“Outside of that who and what are you that would in any way attract our concern? You are just too small.

“You are totally inconsequential in the scheme of things.We have always operated within the law & respected the human rights of Nigerians.

“We have never contemplated kidnapping, killing or harming your client  Atiku Abubakar who paid you a whopping 1.2 million USD to carry out a vile and vicious campaign of calmuny and malicious hatchet job against our President in the international media, so why would we contemplate kidnapping, killing or harming one of his many errand boys like you?

“Such unlawful and heinous practices are an abomination to God & to this Government. Your delusions of grandeur must come to an end.

“Can a man who inflated a ceremonial unpaid education seat into a Trump government credential, then pulled down the post when the inflation was exposed be taken seriously? I doubt it.

“You are nothing but a liar, a slanderer, a scammer, a coward, a bully & a merchant of falsehood.

“Be rest assured that you will be hearing  from my lawyers soon and I will be demanding at least 100 million USD for your libellous falsehood & vicious slander against my person in a duly constituted court of law in the United States of America.

“I will also seek for your lawful extradition from America to come and answer for your numerous violations of our Cybercrime laws & criminal defamation before a duly constituted court of law here in Nigeria. You have been put on notice. From now on it is lawyer to lawyer. See you in court.”
