As part of efforts to ensure academic discipline among students, the Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic has withdrawn 229 students over poor academic performance.
This followed the approval of the first semester results for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the acting coordinator of public relations and protocols of the institution, John Amos Onimisi, the decision was taken during the academic board meeting chaired by the rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, held on May 12, 2026.
The statement said senior officers, including principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and other members of the academic board, deliberated extensively on academic matters concerning the institution before granting final approval.
“The committee carefully scrutinised and authenticated the submissions from various departments and schools to ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance with the Polytechnic’s academic regulations.
According to the statement, the committee’s report subsequently served as a critical guide in the academic board’s deliberations and final decisions on the results.
The rector commended members of the committee for their diligence, commitment, and professionalism in carrying out the exercise, adding that the efforts of the committee had continued to strengthen the institution’s academic integrity and uphold educational standards.
