Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Tuesday announced the inauguration of a cabinet-level security committee tasked with developing short- and long-term solutions to address security challenges in the state.
The committee is chaired by Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, with Dr. Olufunke Mercy Shittu of the Office of the Head of Service serving as secretary.
Other members include Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Saliu Tunde Bello; Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Abdullahi Bata; Senior Special Assistants on Security, Alhaji Muhyideen Aliu and Alhaji Moshood Gobir; and one local government chairman from each of Kwara’s three senatorial districts.
According to a statement issued in Ilorin by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye, the committee will engage with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, to design a Kwara-specific security strategy aimed at strengthening public safety.
“The committee will submit its report to the governor within four weeks for further consideration and action. Its recommendations are intended to enrich the existing understanding of nationwide security challenges from local perspectives,” the statement added.
