The African Action Congress, AAC, has asked President Bola Tinubu to approve the use of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the inauguration of its presidential campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for participants at the proposed event, citing the need for fairness and equal treatment of political parties.
Omoyele Sowore is the presidential candidate of the party.
The requests were contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, addressed to Mr Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
In the letter signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC proposed November 11, 2026, for the inauguration ceremony.
The party said the event was part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
It urged the president to approve the use of the presidential facility, arguing that such a decision would demonstrate the government’s commitment to multiparty democracy and political inclusiveness.
The AAC also asked the Presidency to provide food, drinks and other logistical arrangements for those expected to attend the ceremony.
According to the party, the request was based on what it described as arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for a similar political engagement.
“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for participants at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” the letter stated.
The party said granting its request would reinforce the principle that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without discrimination based on political affiliation.
“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” it added.
The AAC further asked the president to communicate the applicable procedures and conditions for approval, expressing hope that the request would receive favourable consideration.
The letter did not identify the specific political engagement for which the APC was reportedly provided similar arrangements.
The request comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the AAC seeking access to the seat of the Federal Government for its campaign council inauguration.
It was not immediately clear whether the Presidency had responded to the request.
The AAC’s national secretariat is located at House TD7, Global Estate, Apo Primary, Abuja.
