Lady shares shocking letter a teenager wrote to her in church over her dressing

A woman has sparked a conversation online after sharing a letter she said was written to her by a teenage girl who criticised her dressing and linked women’s clothing to men’s sexual behaviour.

In a viral video, the woman said the teenager handed her a letter containing several observations about her conduct and appearance.

According to her, one part of the letter accused her of distracting herself and other people, describing it as a sin.

She said another section advised her to “be dressed modestly as possible” and claimed that when a man looks at a woman lustfully, most of the blame should be placed on the woman if she is dressed indecently.

The woman took issue with the criticism, saying she considered her outfit to be modest.

Look at me. See how I’m dressed,” she said, explaining that she had deliberately maintained a conservative style when attending church.

She said she had not worn anything above her ankles to church for about a year because she preferred dresses that flowed down.

Despite this, she said the teenager described her clothing as indecent and suggested that her appearance could make men lust after her.

The woman said the letter also contained the claim that women were responsible for men’s lust “80% of the time” because of the way they dressed.

She questioned the mindset behind such an argument, particularly because the letter was allegedly written by a girl she estimated to be about 15 or 16 years old.

This is the mentality. This is the kind of person that tomorrow she will get married,” she said.

She then raised concerns about how such beliefs could affect the way the teenager might respond if her own child were ever sexually assaulted.

She argued that blaming a victim’s clothing could lead to harmful questions about what the victim was wearing rather than focusing responsibility on the perpetrator.

The woman further described the teenager as being “male-centred” at a young age, arguing that such attitudes could persist despite efforts to promote gender equality and feminism.

She concluded by reiterating her disbelief that her outfit had been described as “lustful”, given the effort she said she had made to dress modestly.
