Lagos Appoints Emmanuel Akande As New Director of Citizens’ Rights

The Lagos State Government has appointed Mr. Emmanuel Oluyinka Akande as the new Director of the Directorate for Citizens’ Rights (DCR), succeeding Mr. Jonathan Olugbemi Ogunsanya, who has been redeployed as Director of Legislative Drafting in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.

The announcement was made by the Lagos State Government via its official X page on Thursday.

Before his appointment, Akande served as the Director of Civil Litigation in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.

During his maiden interactive session with staff of the Directorate, the new director called for the support of the workforce as he pledged to reposition the agency for improved service delivery.

“While emphasising the need to rejig the laid-down strategies and principles, he maintained that his leadership will lay premium importance on training and retraining of staff in Legal and Para-Legal Jurisprudence,” the statement read.

Akande also urged members of staff to uphold professionalism and remain committed to the core values of the public service.

“The new Director enjoined the staff to continually uphold the undying virtues of hard work, smart work, wisdom, and embrace the need to be law-abiding always,” the statement added.

He further appealed for unity and teamwork among staff, saying, “He, therefore, appealed for the cooperation of all staff towards building a formidable team that would initiate more proactive ways of improving quality delivery.”

According to the Lagos State Government, Akande took over from Mr. Jonathan Olugbemi Ogunsanya, who has assumed office as the new Director for Legislative Drafting in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
