“Late Mr Ibu Did Not Do Well” – Rita Edochie Links Mr Ibu’s Family Crisis to Polygamy, Calls It a Marital Error

Rita Edochie has blamed polygamy for the ongoing family crisis surrounding late Mr Ibu, describing the practice as harmful to family unity. The veteran actress said the situation should serve as a lesson, arguing that polygamy often breeds rivalry, inheritance disputes, and long-term family conflict.

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has weighed in on the ongoing family crisis involving the late Mr Ibu, describing polygamy as one of the greatest causes of division and conflict in many African homes.

In a lengthy post on social media, the actress said she has no desire to be associated with polygamy, insisting that the practice has caused more harm than good across generations.

According to Rita Edochie, no matter how people try to defend or glorify polygamy, its consequences often include rivalry, jealousy, unhealthy competition, inheritance disputes, divided loyalties, and prolonged family conflicts.

She argued that the situation currently unfolding within Mr Ibu’s family is another painful example of the challenges that can arise in polygamous homes, especially after the death of the family patriarch.

“Polygamy has done more harm than good, not just in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole. We must call a spade a spade. Late Mr Ibu did not do well at all.”

The actress maintained that the public disagreements involving the late actor’s family should serve as a warning to those already in polygamous marriages or considering such family arrangements.

She added that even monogamous marriages require patience, sacrifice, forgiveness, and constant effort to thrive, arguing that maintaining peace becomes even more difficult when multiple spouses are involved.

Rita Edochie concluded by urging people to learn from the situation, stressing that today’s crisis in another family’s home could become someone else’s reality if lessons are not taken.
