The Nigerian Law School is facing growing scrutiny following the death of 23-year-old Faith Alayande, a student who died after reportedly falling from the rooftop of a hostel at the institution’s Lagos Campus.
Alayande, a student of the Nigerian Law School, Enugu Campus, was undergoing her externship programme in Lagos when the fatal incident occurred on Friday.
The tragedy has raised fresh questions about safety and supervision within the institution’s hostel facilities, particularly over how a student could suffer a fatal fall from a campus rooftop.
In a statement on Monday, Aderonke Osho, Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, confirmed the student’s death and said the management had commenced an investigation.
However, the announcement has left lingering questions over the circumstances surrounding the incident, the condition and accessibility of the rooftop, and whether adequate safety measures were in place to prevent such a tragedy.
As the investigation continues, attention is now turning to the Nigerian Law School to provide clear answers on what happened and whether there were lapses that could have contributed to the student’s death.
