Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received the 2026 Efficient Public Resource Management and Transparency Award from Blueprint Newspapers.
Lawal received the award on Tuesday at the 8th edition of the newspaper’s Annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The event, themed “Security Challenges and Integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections,” attracted policymakers, security chiefs, political leaders, diplomats, civil society groups, academics and other stakeholders.
Blueprint Newspapers said Lawal was honoured for his prudent management of public resources, fiscal accountability and efforts to promote transparency and responsible governance in Zamfara.
Speaking after receiving the award, Lawal thanked the management of the newspaper, saying the recognition showed that his administration’s efforts to rescue and rebuild Zamfara were being noticed beyond the state.
He said his administration had recorded achievements in security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, the economy and human capital development, attributing the progress to its commitment to transparent governance.
The Managing Director of Blueprint Newspapers Limited, Salisu Umar, described Lawal as a blend of professional accomplishment and public service, noting his background in diplomacy, banking and politics.
According to Umar, the governor’s administration has focused on financial discipline, public-sector accountability, infrastructure development, security, education and healthcare, with emphasis on directing public resources towards projects that deliver measurable benefits to residents.
The newspaper also commended the administration’s efforts to rehabilitate roads, improve public infrastructure, strengthen healthcare and education, and create conditions for displaced residents to return to their communities and resume productive activities.
