Lekki Robbery Scare: BBNaija Star, Woman Raise Alarm Over Attacks

A Lagos woman and former Big Brother Naija reality star, Cross Okonkwo, have raised the alarm over alleged robbery incidents involving motorists in the Lekki area of the state.

The woman, who spoke in a viral video, claimed that three men attacked her vehicle shortly after 9pm while she was stopped at a traffic light in Lekki. She said the incident occurred as she was returning from her office.

According to her, the men approached her vehicle while it was in traffic and pulled parts of the car, allegedly attempting to gain access. She also claimed that motorists behind her were attacked, with some occupants allegedly losing their mobile phones.

The woman urged motorists to remain vigilant when stopping at traffic lights and warned them against winding down their windows for strangers.

She alleged that the men were dressed decently, making it difficult for motorists to suspect that they intended to rob them.

“Lekki is not safe anymore. Armed Robbers are on the express now robbing people,” she said. “They dress very decent.”

She also claimed that she had previously lost parts of her G-Wagon to thieves in Lekki, including the vehicle’s logo and another item at the rear.

Similarly, Okonkwo spoke out after an alleged robbery incident in Lagos involving a man who approached his car while begging for money.

Okonkwo shared his account on X on Wednesday, expressing frustration over the incident and saying the man approached him through his car window.

According to the reality star, he did not refuse to engage with the man, but the alleged beggar reached into his vehicle, took an item and immediately fled.

“I just got robbed. All these beggars, they were at my window talking to me. I did not refuse the guy, and he just ripped off something from my car and ran away,” he said.

The two accounts have raised concerns over the safety of motorists who interact with people approaching their vehicles in traffic, although the specific circumstances of the incidents could not be independently verified.

It was also unclear whether the incidents had been formally reported to the police or whether any arrests had been made as of the time of filing this report.
