The club, in a statement published on its website on Saturday afternoon, said Slot’s successor will be announced in the coming days.
The club’s hierarchy admitted that the decision taken was difficult, adding that the time the outgoing coach has spent at the club has been significant, meaningful, and successful.
The club stated in part, “That this was a difficult decision for us to make as a club goes without saying. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful, and most importantly of all to supporters and ourselves, successful.
“As such, our appreciation for everything he has achieved could not be greater, particularly as it was underpinned by a work ethic, a diligence, and a level of expertise which further underlined our view that he is a leader in his field.”
This news platform reports that Slot’s performance in the just concluded 2025/26 season has been average, a record not befitting a European club.
Across all competitions this season, the Dutchman managed Liverpool Football Club in 57 games, finishing with a record of 28 wins, 9 draws, and 20 losses in all competitions.
While the Reds are yet to announce a successor, there are reports from the United Kingdom (UK) media that Arne Slot’s potential replacement is Andoni Iraola, currently in charge of AFC Bournemouth, who is tipped to take over the role at Liverpool.
