Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has thrown a subtle jab at the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, over his opposition to the suspension of the union’s activities in Osun State.
Davido, in a post shared on his Instagram Story, appeared to have taken a swipe at the NURTW leader, questioning his motives over the controversy.
“@kingmcoluomo dem say u Dey game… I doubt lol look ur mirror,” the singer wrote.
The social media post comes amid a dispute between the Osun State Government and the NURTW following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s directive suspending the union’s operations in all motor parks across the state.
The governor ordered the immediate halt of NURTW activities after security consultations, directing the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to stop the collection of levies by the union at motor parks.
He also instructed law enforcement agencies to arrest anyone impersonating union officials or operating in defiance of the order.
However, MC Oluomo rejected the directive, insisting that the Osun governor does not have the constitutional authority to suspend the activities of a registered trade union.
The development comes ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, where Governor Adeleke is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Davido, who is Adeleke’s nephew, has remained actively involved in the governor’s campaign. In April, he was appointed head of youth mobilisation for the party’s governorship campaign council and later inaugurated the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council.
The award-winning singer has also been vocal about the forthcoming election, warning in June against any attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
