Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has been named Minister of State of the Year, at the 6th edition of the Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards held in Abuja.
The ceremony, organised to recognise individuals and institutions contributing to public service, leadership, and national development, brought together public officials, private sector actors and other stakeholders to recognise some of their contributions to governance and public service.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mahmoud said the recognition reflected the works being carried out within the Federal Capital Territory.
Mahmoud, in a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Austine Elemue, said the award was a product of collective effort within the administration under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
She said the recognition would further encourage her to deepen her contribution to ongoing reforms and development initiatives in the FCT, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Mahmoud emphasised that leadership is defined by service and responsibility to citizens, adding that governance must always focus on impact.
“Leadership remains fundamentally about service, commitment, compassion, and creating opportunities that positively impact citizens,” she said.
She dedicated the award to residents of the Federal Capital Territory, particularly women, youths, and community leaders, noting that their support continues to shape the direction of governance.
According to her, the confidence of residents remains a driving force behind policies and programmes being implemented by the administration.
“The confidence reposed in the administration serves as a motivating force behind every policy and initiative being pursued,” she added.
The minister commended the organisers of the Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards for sustaining a platform that recognises excellence and promotes accountability in public service.
She also urged Nigerians to remain committed to unity, peace, and national development, especially as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
Mahmoud expressed optimism that continued collaboration between government and citizens would strengthen development outcomes in Abuja and across the country.
