ParrotXtra Media Network has finalised arrangements to celebrate the 61st birthday of its founder, Ambassador Olayinka Agboola, popularly known as Mr. Parrot, with a special live radio panel discussion chaired by former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Iyiola Oladokun.
According to a statement from the media organisation, the event will hold on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, during its regular weekly programme on Splash 105.5FM in Ibadan.
The session will feature Oladokun as chairman, alongside a panel of notable personalities including former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; Bishop Ademola Moradeyo; Hon. Yinka Omikunle; Hon. Tajudeen Adigun Adeniyi, Chairman of Ibadan Southwest LCDA; and Oluwaseun Omo Akinola, a senior manager at Splash FM. Media entrepreneur Dele Momodu is also expected to participate virtually from Ghana.
The discussion, themed “Nigeria’s Wobbling, Fumbling Democracy: Whose Fault, Way Forward?”, will examine challenges facing the nation’s democracy and possible solutions. Panellists are expected to speak briefly on both the causes of democratic setbacks and the path forward within the one-hour programme.
The organisers described the initiative as a creative way to mark Agboola’s birthday while contributing to national discourse. They expressed appreciation to supporters who have sustained the organisation over the past 21 years and reaffirmed their commitment to impactful media engagement.
Activities lined up after the broadcast include a cake-cutting ceremony and the distribution of gifts to widows and other beneficiaries. The day will also feature tributes to the late Elder Clement Ige, who passed away recently at the age of 68.
The live panel session will be streamed on Facebook via Splash FM 105.5 Ibadan between 11am and 12 noon.
Before founding ParrotXtra Media Network in 2004, Agboola had a distinguished career in journalism, working with several media houses and serving as Press Secretary to former Oyo State Governor, Lam Adesina. He currently oversees the organisation’s publications and its popular weekly radio programme, ParrotXtra Hour/Ayekooto.
