A school in the Mwiki area of Kasarani, Nairobi County, has been plunged into mourning following the sudden deaths of two teachers within a matter of days.

Madam Lucy, who passed away first, had been unwell and was receiving treatment in hospital.
As if she sensed her heartbreaking fate, Lucy reportedly summoned her children and told them that her colleague and close friend, Madam Winnie, would become their guardian figure. She instructed them to turn to Winnie whenever they needed help or support.

This was Lucy’s final wish. Winnie agreed to take on the responsibility and accepted the role before Lucy passed away just a few hours later.

Following her friend’s death, Madam Winnie stepped in to care for Lucy’s children and took charge of preparations for her burial.
According to reports, Winnie was healthy and had shown no signs of illness. She had even been attending school as usual before tragedy struck unexpectedly.
She reportedly collapsed at her home and died just days after the loss of her beloved friend, leaving the entire community grief-stricken and searching for answers.
Many have struggled to comprehend what happened to the teacher who had been entrusted by her dying friend with the responsibility of caring for her children, only for her own life to be cut short shortly afterwards.
The deaths have also left many Kenyans online saddened, with scores of people sending messages of comfort and support to the bereaved families.

A family member, Hon Njeri Muchiri, claimed that Madam Winnie died from the shock of losing her best friend, highlighting the immense grief and pain the two deaths had caused.
“Reading all your comments about my Aunt Njumbi, who was my mother’s sister, and Teacher Winnie, who was my aunt’s best friend, has been emotional. Winnie died of shock. I was with her on her last night. She had come to my late aunt’s home to update us on the type of coffin she had chosen for Aunt Lucy. She left a bit late and waved goodbye to us, only for her not to wake up the following morning. She and Aunt Lucy were the best of friends. As a family, we are still in shock. The first death was natural, but the second was caused by shock. It is as if she could not accept that her friend had truly died,” she stated.
