Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, has responded to allegations made by social media activist VeryDarkMan concerning his boss’s alleged involvement in the events surrounding late singer Mohbad and his subsequent arrest.
On Thursday, VeryDarkMan opened up about his fallout with Davido, Zlatan Ibile and others, explaining that their differences were connected to their opposing positions during the campaign for justice for Mohbad.
The activist also recalled how he became friends with Davido in 2014 but claimed their relationship took a different turn after he obtained a WhatsApp group conversation in 2025.
According to him, the conversation allegedly suggested that some individuals within Davido’s circle were involved in efforts that eventually led to his arrest in 2024.
VeryDarkMan said he made several attempts to reach Davido for clarification but received no response. He added that he later came across a blog report claiming he wanted to record his conversation with the singer and use it against him.
Reacting to the allegations, Israel DMW defended Davido, insisting that the singer had no involvement in Naira Marley’s ordeal during the Mohbad controversy or any plan to have VeryDarkMan arrested.
He explained that the individuals who participated in the WhatsApp group did so without Davido’s knowledge, introduction or approval.
Israel also questioned why Davido would collaborate with Samklef against VeryDarkMan, while dismissing claims that his boss wanted to acquire Mohbad’s music catalogue or sign his associate, Zinoleesky.
In his words:
“Dearest Nigerians, Oga had no hand in Naira Marley’s ordeals during his trying times in Mohbad’s case or in any plot to see VDM being arrested. Those who were in that WhatsApp group got there without his introduction or approval. Why would Oga be joining issues with Samklef?
Oga called for Mohbad’s catalogue, or even tried to sign Zino? How na? Those who told VDM that fully lied. Serious pressure even came for Oga to unfollow Naira Marley on Instagram, and he said categorically, ‘No, no,’ that he wants the police to do their job. That he doesn’t want to believe any hearsay. Naira and Oga are cool. They even made a hit song.
On the issue that happened in Naira’s house, it was our then Tolu 30bg who had issues with one of Naira’s boys.
Nobody was beaten or attacked. Thank you all.”
Israel’s statement comes amid renewed attention on the strained relationship between VeryDarkMan and members of Davido’s circle.
