MzGee Opens Up About Near-Death Experience After Childbirth

Media personality MzGee has opened up about a frightening health scare she experienced after giving birth to her son.

Speaking at the second edition of her Convergence of Mothers initiative, she revealed that doctors informed her that her condition had become critical shortly after childbirth.

“They said my vitals were in code,” she recalled.

According to MzGee, she initially resisted treatment even though she urgently needed a blood transfusion after her blood levels dropped dangerously low.

Beyond the physical complications, she also revealed that she struggled emotionally after giving birth.

“At that moment, I felt awkward towards my son,” she admitted.

She explained that she later discovered through conversations with other mothers that such experiences are more common than many people openly admit.

“Having conversations with a lot of my friends who are mothers, I realised it seems to be a normal place for a lot of people,” she said.

According to her, conversations about motherhood in Ghana often focus only on happiness and celebration while ignoring the emotional and mental struggles many mothers face after childbirth.

“They only show the smiles and excitement around having a child. But nobody talks about the mother’s life after childbirth,” she stated.

MzGee explained that her Convergence of Mothers initiative was created to provide a safe space for women to openly discuss motherhood experiences and support one another.

“I felt like I wanted to do something with mothers for mothers. Let’s hear stories from mothers,” she said.

She added that mothers should not lose themselves completely while raising children and stressed the importance of sharing information, emotional support, and honest conversations about motherhood challenges.
