A Kenyan woman, Ajusa Atieno, has responded to a Nigerian man who criticised Kenyan women over their approach to marriage and relationships.
The Nigerian man had claimed that Kenyan women do not understand marriage because they allegedly leave relationships easily whenever their husbands make mistakes.
He argued that men are human and make mistakes, but said Kenyan women often refuse to give them another chance and instead end the marriage.
Reacting, Atieno pushed back against the claim, arguing that Kenyan women are willing to walk away from relationships when they feel disrespected.
She also contrasted Kenyan and Nigerian women, describing Nigerian women as “pick mes” who, according to her, value marriage more than self-respect.
She wrote:
“There’s a Nigerian man claiming Kenyan women don’t understand marriage. A small thing and we are out. That’s why there’s a lot of baby mamas (as if this is a threat). These are OUR flesh and blood.
“Ati THEY are HUMAN and make mistakes. He is not telling you what mistake nor does he consider you are HUMAN too.
“Wololo Kenyan women are the Nigerian men of Africa. We will teach you lessons of love, respect and equality while Naija women are pick mes and value marriage more than self-respect.”
Atieno further said she would not remain in a relationship where her partner cheats, threatens to leave, shouts at her or refuses to contribute to the home.
She added that marriage should be a place where both partners experience love, respect and companionship.
