Nairobi: Post-mortem reveals what killed Donholm cab driver who died in car

Nairobi, Kenya: An autopsy has revealed that cab driver Mark Kazungu died after blood clots settled in his lungs as a result of sitting in the same position for a long time.

On June 19, Uber, Bolt and Faras drivers were thrown into mourning after their colleague Mark Kazungu was found dead due to exhaustion in Donholm, near Caltex in Nairobi.

After his death, drivers passionately protested their unsafe working conditions with a vigil and march to the Ministry of Transport, and they also vowed to inject more so that they get their rights.

“Kazungu had traces of blood clots in the lungs, which (Dr Johansen Oduor) suggested could be as a result of sitting for long hours in a certain position,” his colleagie Timothy Mkenya told NGBREAKINGNEWS.

“The blood samples were taken to the government lab for further examination and the burial is happening today at Malinya in Sigalagala, Kakamega,”he added.

How did loved ones learn of Kazungu’s death?

According to Mkenya, Kazungu’s sudden flight home was beyond comprehension; he said that he received a chilling call from a person asking him if he knew the driver.

“I first thought it was a prank then the kindly come quickly to Equity Afya Caltex at Donholm message came and I drove fast from Kiserian, only to arrive and meet a contingent of crime scene officers at the scene. Accident? No. There you were, comfortably seated at the back of your car and lifeless. God! Life is very unpredictable. Go well my brother,”he said.

According to Mkenya, the man left behind a very young family: four children, three girls and one year-old boy. A very, very sad situation.
