Ndigbo Buru Otu Extends Love To Less Privileged, Donates Food Items & Cash Gifts

In continuation of its 11-year tradition of compassion and humanitarian service, the Ndigbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria has donated food items and cash gifts to children living with disabilities at the Foundation For Hope In Disability, Ikotun, Lagos State.

The outreach, which took place over the weekend, was led by the President General of the association, Eze (Dr.) Chika Nwokedi, who is also the Ezendigbo of Ijegun/Ijeododo and Chairman, Council of Ezendigbo in Lagos State.

The visit was part of the core mission of Ndigbo Buru Otu Association to cater for the needs of motherless babies, widows, widowers and the less privileged in the society. The initiative has been sustained meticulously since the association was founded 11 years ago by Eze Nwokedi.

Members of the association turned out in large numbers for this year’s charity outreach, contributing food items including bags of rice, cartons of noodles, cooking oil, provisions and cash donations to support the upkeep of the children.

The Ndigbo Buru Otu Association has made it an annual routine to visit orphanages and homes for the less privileged every November. In 2024, the group visited Charitas Orphanage in Abaranje, Ikotun, where they donated relief materials at a time the Nigerian economy was biting hard.

In 2025, the association visited Ighalo Orphanage Home in Ijegun, and in 2026, they chose the Foundation for Hope in Disability to extend love to persons living with disabilities.

Speaking during the visit, Eze Chika Nwokedi said the outreach is a regular exercise aimed at giving back to society and showing magnanimity to those in need without expecting anything in return.

He explained that the association chose the Ikotun facility this year as recommended by the association’s Secretary and endorsed by the executive council, hence the decision to begin the 2026 charity tour from the facility before moving to other areas.

Eze Nwokedi said the visit gives him inner peace and joy, noting that it is biblical that whatever one gives to the less privileged is given to God. He recalled that at the beginning, it was difficult to convince members to support the project, but today members now donate freely and with joy.

He promised that the association will continue to support the less privileged, adding that his philanthropy is not limited to orphanages alone but also covers widows, widowers and struggling families who need help to survive. He urged well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture.

The Manager of the Foundation warmly received the team and thanked the association for the show of love. She commended Eze Nwokedi for his consistent humanitarian work and for touching many lives in Lagos and beyond. She explained that beyond caring for the children, the Foundation also trains them in vocational skills to make them self-reliant in future.

Some members of the association also spoke on the significance of the visit.

Chief Chukwuemeka Ogbuka, Vice President of the association, said the outreach is part of the group’s social responsibility and that it gives members inner satisfaction, which is why there is always a huge turnout.

Chief Ifeanyi Ugoegbe, Secretary of the group, said the charity visit is enshrined in the constitution of the association as part of its social responsibility and that members have kept faith with it because it brings fulfillment.

Chairman of the Charity Committee, Ogbuefi Chibuike Oguegbe, thanked Eze Nwokedi for the vision and praised members for embracing it.

Lolo Okeoma Nkiruka (Ugo Si Mba) and the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Oluchi Ahamefuna, also commended the leadership and members for sustaining the project, noting that there is peace and joy in supporting the less privileged.

The children, in their excitement, offered prayers for the association and its leadership.
