The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury, in connection with the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine worth $27.7 million, approximately ₦39 billion.
According to NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa, the cocaine was intercepted at a courier company in Lagos in what the agency described as its largest cocaine seizure from a courier firm.
Marwa disclosed that KC Luxury was arrested at the Lagos airport while allegedly attempting to leave the country following the seizure. A logistics company employee, Lawal Kehinde, was also arrested in connection with the consignment.
The NDLEA chairman said investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the cocaine, adding that Nigeria is increasingly being used as a transit point for illicit drugs heading to the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
The development has sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians focusing on the reported value of the seized consignment, while others turned the discussion into debates over ethnicity and politics.
