The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Monday, 30th June 2025, will hold as planned, despite reports of cancellation or postponement.
In a statement signed by top NWC members on Wednesday, the party also dismissed claims that Senator Samuel Anyanwu had been asked to resume as the party’s National Secretary, describing such reports as misleading.
The NWC stated that the announcements attributed to the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, had no foundation and contradicted the resolution of the 99th NEC meeting, which referred all matters concerning the office of the National Secretary to the 100th NEC meeting.
The committee explained that under Section 31(3) of the PDP Constitution, NEC decisions are binding on all organs, officials, and chapters of the party, and cannot be overturned by any individual or group.
“NEC is the highest decision-making organ of the party, second only to the National Convention,” the NWC emphasized.
The committee reaffirmed that the NEC meeting will proceed as scheduled at the party’s national headquarters on 30th June and urged all members to disregard misinformation.
