Residents of the Abakpa area of Enugu State on Sunday reportedly intervened in an alleged domestic violence incident involving a couple after hearing another disturbance from their home.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman had allegedly been subjected to repeated abuse by her husband over an extended period, with some of the incidents said to have occurred in the presence of their children.
Witnesses claimed that after hearing loud commotion from the residence, neighbours rushed to the scene and intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further. The man was reportedly restrained with ropes, while the woman was taken away to receive medical attention.
Some residents alleged that they had become increasingly concerned after witnessing similar incidents in the past and decided to act following what they described as another violent episode.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had not issued an official statement on the incident, and no arrests had been confirmed.
