The Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, has debunked reports on social media, which claimed that they were suspending upkeep allowances under the Federal Government’s Student Loan Scheme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to NELFUND, the document which carried the information and attributed to its Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, should be disregarded.
The document claimed that funds allocated for May, June and subsequent months had not been released, but Oluwatuyi has explained that the suspension was temporary and promising payments after outstanding allocations were received.
Oluwatuyi has also advised the general public and beneficiaries of the scheme to disregard the misinformation.
She clarified that the student loan and upkeep allowance disbursements would continue, as the scheme continues to provide financial support to eligible students in public tertiary institutions nationwide.
