Key performance indicators across major indices on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) were all down on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as 652,762,977 shares changed hands in 50,912 deals, with a market value of N39.77 billion, news.ng reports.
According to market data, trading volume declined by 35%, turnover fell by 2%, while the number of deals sealed dipped by 3%, signalling cautious investor activity.
Amid the decline in key performance indicators, the NGX market capitalization stood at N130.5 trillion, demonstrating the market capacity of listed equities.
Out of the 133 stocks listed for Thursday’s trading, 30 stocks closed the day with gains, while 32 ended in the red.
Trans-Nationwide Express share price gained 9.94% to close at N3.43 per share, followed by International Energy Insurance with a 9.84% gain to close the day at N3.46 per share.
Other gainers include UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust, which appreciated by 9.63% to close at N7.40 per share. Guinea Insurance posted a 9.52% gain to close at N1.15 per share.
On the losers’ chart, LivingTrust Mortgage Bank suffered a 10% loss to close at N4.32 per share, followed by RT Briscoe, which depreciated by 9.94% to close at N8.88 per share. Tantalizers also saw its share price decline by 9.55% to close at N3.98 per share, while Livestock Feeds lost 9.4% to close at N6.75 per share.
Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of traded shares at 122 million, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding with 62.3 million traded shares. Chams recorded 60.7 million traded shares, while Zenith Bank posted 43.7 million traded shares.
