NGX: Trading Volume Up 27% as Market Capitalization Down N155.9tn

Wednesday’s trading on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) saw improved activity, as 915,610,253 shares were traded in 69,240 deals, with a total value of N36.868 billion, News.ng reports.

Today’s trading volume increased by 27%. Turnover also rose by 26%, while the number of deals declined by 3%.

Market capitalization was affected, with the figure standing at N155.9 trillion (USD114 billion).

Data revealed that, out of the 133 equities listed on the NGX, 15 companies recorded gains, while 45 closed in negative territory.

Among the gainers, Abbey Mortgage Bank led the chart with a 9.93% increase in its share price to close at N7.756 per share, while International Energy Insurance recorded a 9.89% rise in its share price to close at N6.00 per share.

Also, Tripple Gee & Co. gained 9.8% to close at N4.37 per share, while Universal Insurance Company recorded an 8.91% increase in its share price to close at N1.10 per share.

On the losing side, Lafarge Africa shed 9.97% of its share price to close at N307.90 per share, followed by Zichis Agro Allied Industries, which lost 9.82% to close at N29.20 per share.

John Holt recorded a 9.8% decline in its share price to close at N13.80 per share, while Learn Africa lost 9.8% of its share price to close at N11.50 per share.

In terms of trading volume, Sterling Bank recorded the highest volume, with 265 million shares traded, followed by Access Holdings with 76.7 million shares. Linkage Assurance recorded 55.1 million shares traded, while VFD Group traded 35.5 million shares.
