MK Dons captain, Favour Omenazu has been given her first international call-up following her decision to represent Nigeria rather than England.
Omenazu has been included in the Super Falcons roster for their 2028 Olympic qualifying double-header against Comoros.
MK Dons announced Omenazu’s invitation via its official website, acknowledging the defender’s selection for the crucial African qualifying matches.
Her call-up constitutes a noteworthy achievement for the MK Dons captain, who will now have the opportunity to make her senior international debut.
Omenazu was not included in the preliminary squad announced for the Olympic qualifiers but was subsequently added to Nigeria’s roster as preparations for the two-legged fixture progressed.
The Super Falcons are scheduled to play against Comoros on Friday, October 9, with the return fixture on Tuesday, October 13. Nigeria received a bye into the second round of the African qualifiers, whereas Comoros progressed from the opening round.
Several experienced players have withdrawn from the team, with Asisat Oshoala excused from playing, while Ashleigh Plumptre, Oluwatosin Demehin and Flourish Sabastine are all unavailable for the matches.
The Super Falcons must overcome Comoros across both legs to progress in the competition.
