A chieftain of the Africa Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Peter Obi, has said that Nigeria needs someone like him who can create wealth.
Obi was responding to a remark made by former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso at Chatham House in London in 2023, where he boasted to be more qualified to be Nigeria’s president because he has a Ph.D
Kwankwaso was the presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, when he made that comment.
Right now, the ex-governor of Kano State is part of the NDC, just like Obi.
However, in an interview with News Central’s ’60 Minutes with Kay’ on Thursday, Obi said that no presidential candidate, including President Bola Tinubu, can compare to his experience in creating wealth.
“Qualification is a viewpoint and it depends on where you are coming from. Kwankwaso said he was more qualified because he has a PhD, which isn’t bad. I don’t have a PhD.
“He has some experience, he’s exposed. He was a minister. There’s no doubt about that. I don’t think his statement was incorrect, but right now, Nigeria needs someone who can create wealth and manage it effectively.
“I have created well-known businesses starting from the ground up both locally and around the world.
“No one today, not even the president, can say they’ve gone through what I’ve gone through,” he added.
