Nigerian cleric Apostle Johnson Suleman has sparked conversations online after praising the country’s security agencies during a recent address.
Speaking on national security, the founder of Omega Fire Ministries stated that his travels around the world have convinced him that Nigeria’s security institutions rank among the best globally.
“I have travelled to several countries, and I can boldly tell you that the Nigerian Army, the Police, and the DSS are among the best in the world,” Suleman said.
His comments quickly gained attention on social media, where many Nigerians shared differing opinions on the state of security in the country.
@ChristianA8920 questioned the effectiveness of the agencies, writing, “Oga go siddon abeg, DSS get power for civilian alone, Why them never arrest Gumi till now since they are working.”
@dolapoatanda123 suggested the cleric’s remarks were politically motivated, saying, “Dem don give dis one money already naw so he go dey misyarn until wen Dey abduct one his family.”
Offering a different view, @too_Extraa agreed with Suleman’s assessment but pointed to internal challenges. “Very correct. but you still can’t undermine the fact that we have bad eggs as top ranking officials sabotaging the system and making it look bad in the eyes of its own people,” the user wrote.
@FrancisFri2863 was unconvinced, commenting, “The people called man of God in this country can lie.”
Another user, @DaddyTwinzz, referenced the security around the preacher, writing, “Coming from someone who moves around in a bulletproof car.”
Similarly, @ObiOfala argued that the problem lies in leadership and politics. “Politicians have bastardized our institutions and the people in those institutions have allowed themselves to be pawns of government,” he stated.
