The Federal Government has constructed 1,230 housing units under the Renewed Hope Estate at Lambu and Renewed Hope City Phases I and II in Kano State to reduce the housing challenges confronting the citizens.
The State Controller of the Federal Housing Authority, FHA, Yahaya Haruna, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kano.
Haruna said renewed hope City Phase I had already been completed.
According to him, the houses comprise of three bedroom bungalow, 81 units, four bedroom bungalow, 40 units, four bedroom duplex with boys quarters, 44 units.
Others, he said, are 160 units of three-bedroom with boys quarters terrace duplex.
“The Renewed hope city phase two is ongoing and it comprised 133 units of three- bedroom bungalow and 53 units of four-bedroom bungalow.
“It also comprises of 60 units of three-bedroom with boys quarters terrace duplex, 59 units of four-bedroom duplex,” he said.
Haruna further explained that the renewed hope estate at Lambu consist of 100 units of one-bedroom falts, 300 units of two-bedrooms flats and 100 units of three-bedrooms flats.
The comptroller added that the projects were part of the Federal Government’s efforts to expand access to affordable and decent housing for Nigerians.
He said that the schemes would address housing deficit and improve access to decent accommodation.
The controller further explained that the housing scheme is both for civil servants and other residents, however refuse to disclose their costs.
One of the beneficiaries, Umaru Sagir, commend the government for the initiative and urged it to do more to enable more citizens own personal houses.
Abdullahi Hamid, a tea seller at the renewed hope city, Kano, said his business had recorded a ”boom” since the start of the project.
Hamid thanked the federal government for the initiative and urged it to continue to do more for Nigerians.
