A Nigerian man popularly known as Big Joe has reportedly been shot dead outside his shop in Witbank, South Africa.
According to reports, the attackers opened fire on the businessman multiple times, leaving him dead at the scene. Graphic footage circulating on social media shows the victim lying in a pool of blood shortly after the attack, while residents gathered around the area.
The killing comes amid growing concerns over renewed xenophobic tensions in parts of South Africa, where some anti-foreigner groups have intensified calls for foreign nationals to leave the country ahead of a self-imposed June 30 deadline.
