The Nigerian Navy will next week commission two newly acquired Seaward Defence Boats as part of efforts to strengthen maritime security and modernise its fleet.
The 12-metre-long vessels were acquired under the administration of President Bola Tinubu to enhance the Navy’s operational capability, particularly in coastal waters.
The new boats are expected to improve maritime surveillance, patrol operations and rapid response to security threats within Nigeria’s territorial waters.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to preside over the commissioning ceremony.
The addition of the vessels underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to boosting the Navy’s capacity to safeguard the nation’s maritime domain and protect critical offshore assets.
