1. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday vowed to resign from the Federal Executive Council if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election in the FCT and Rivers State. Wike made the declaration during an engagement with leaders and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.

2. The Federal Government has ruled out a return to the petrol subsidy regime, insisting that the reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu were necessary to save Nigeria from imminent collapse. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, made the declaration on Wednesday in Abuja at the 66th Independence Anniversary Lecture.

3. The self-styled Director-General of the alleged “non-existent” Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi was on Wednesday arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja. Adeyemi, who has been in detention since July 14, when he was arrested on the strength of a bench warrant issued by the court, was docked on an eight-count charge relating to forgery, fraud and impersonation.

Amnesty International has rejected the Nigerian Police Force’s claim that five men arrested in Maiduguri while wearing “Tinubu Must Go” T-shirts were in possession of drugs, describing the explanation as an attempt to justify what it called their unlawful detention. Following the nationwide outrage that trailed their arrests, the Borno State Police Command denied that the motive for the arrests was political.

5. The village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad has reportedly been killed by his abductors. Ahmad was abducted on Tuesday, September 17, 2026, when gunmen stormed the community at night. His body was reportedly recovered after his abductors killed him.

6. Unknown assailants on Wednesday reportedly murdered Igbu Job Terhemen, Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Fiidi Council Ward, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. Terhemen was said to have been attacked by suspected hoodlums, who allegedly tied him with ropes, injected him with substances suspected to be poisonous, and abandoned him near his residence around the NNPC depot along the Makurdi-Otukpo Road.

7. The Vice-Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has told leaders of the opposition party that many of them will be retired from politics if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is re-elected. Amaechi said this while addressing the ADC National Women’s League Conference in Abuja on Wednesday.

8. The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu has approved a petition by the family of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, seeking a fresh and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The family disclosed this through its lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, in a statement dated September 29, 2026, clarifying that the police re-investigation was ongoing despite the recent dismissal of a suit by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

9. A female police inspector, Mercy Bassey has died after she was reportedly knocked down by a hit-and-run driver while on route-lining duty ahead of the arrival of President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday. It was learnt on Wednesday from a security source, who pleaded anonymity, that Bassey was hit by a black Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle.

10. The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, and other coalition leaders have reportedly held a closed-door meeting with former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja. The meeting, held at Atiku’s Abuja residence on Tuesday night, was attended by members of his campaign council as the opposition coalition intensifies consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
