1. Suspected thugs blocked the convoy of Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Benue State, on Tuesday. Obi’s campaign photographer, Esther Umoh, raised the alarm in a series of posts on X. Releasing some videos of the incident, Umoh said the convoy was blocked on Gboko Road, near the Air Force Base.

INEC’s schedule for the 2027 election indicates that public campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly positions officially commenced three weeks ago on August 19.

Barely 24 hours after the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal displayed two petitions challenging the re-election victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday withdrew its suit. APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenged the outcome of the election in suit numbers EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026 and EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, filed on Saturday, respectively.

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre has invited a staff member of the West African Examinations Council, Olanrewaju Fadehan, to appear in Abuja on Wednesday over an alleged case of cyberstalking and criminal defamation. This comes as the Lagos State High Court restrained Fadehan from publishing or circulating alleged defamatory statements concerning the examination body and its Director-General, Dr Amos Dangut.
7. A 54-year-old officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Prince Etteng Ise, has died in a lone auto crash along the Ikom-Calabar Highway in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State. Ise, who was serving at the Mfum Border in Etung Local Government Area of the state, reportedly lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a pothole.
8. The Social Democratic Party, Oyo State chapter, has changed its governorship candidate, declaring that its ticket is not open to political negotiation. At its substitution plenary held in Ibadan on Tuesday, the party ratified the replacement of Michael Okunlade with Mogaji Agboola as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
9. The Nigeria Democratic Congress has denied allegations that donations and levies raised from aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections were diverted, insisting that all funds contributed to the party were paid into its designated account and managed by the appropriate party organs. The party, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, described reports and allegations as a deliberate campaign of misinformation and propaganda allegedly being promoted by disgruntled elements.
10. The Benue State government has accused Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), of looking for trouble. Commissioner for Information, Solomon Iorpev, said this while reacting to the disruption of Obi’s convoy during a visit to the state on Tuesday.
