The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has commenced the January–June (H1) 2026 Nigerian Gas Network Reconciliation (NGNR) Workshop, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in the country’s domestic gas market.
Declaring the workshop open on behalf of the Authority Chief Executive, Mallam Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, the Director of Transportation Infrastructure, Supply and Network Operations (TSN), Engr. Joseph G. Musa, said the reconciliation exercise remains critical to ensuring accurate accounting of gas volumes transported through Nigeria’s national gas network.
“The Authority has commenced the H1 (January–June) 2026 Nigerian Gas Network Reconciliation (NGNR) Workshop, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in Nigeria’s domestic gas market,” he said.
Musa noted that since its introduction in 2023, the twice-yearly reconciliation exercise has improved transparency, strengthened measurement reliability, enhanced operational discipline and created new business opportunities across the gas value chain.
“Since its introduction in 2023, the biannual reconciliation exercise has strengthened transparency, improved measurement reliability, enhanced operational discipline and expanded business opportunities across the gas value chain.
The initiative has also contributed to a more reliable domestic gas supply through improved pressure management and accountability,” he added.
The director also announced that the peer review and internal processes for Revision 2 of the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code had been completed.
“He further disclosed that the peer review and internal processes for Revision 2 of the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code have been concluded and the revised Code will be released soon,” the statement said.
Musa urged stakeholders to participate actively in the reconciliation exercise, reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to building a sustainable, efficient and transparent gas transportation network across Nigeria.
