Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said that no government can provide lasting peace for its citizens, insisting that genuine peace can only be found in God.
Oyedepo stated this while addressing worshippers during a church service in Warri, Delta State, where he urged Christians not to place their ultimate hope in earthly institutions or material possessions.
According to the cleric, while governments have the responsibility of providing security, maintaining law and order, and ensuring good governance, they cannot offer the inner peace that comes from a relationship with God.
He said, “No government in the world can give you true peace. Peace is not found in any earthly system or in material things. True peace is a gift from God.”
The presiding bishop of the megachurch stressed that lasting tranquillity is rooted in faith and a personal walk with God rather than in political leadership or economic prosperity.
He urged believers to strengthen their faith and remain steadfast in seeking God’s presence, noting that spiritual peace remains constant despite prevailing social or economic challenges.
Oyedepo added that although governments have important constitutional responsibilities, the peace that sustains individuals through life’s uncertainties is divine and cannot be guaranteed by any human institution.
The renowned preacher encouraged Christians to cultivate a deeper relationship with God, saying this remains the surest path to experiencing enduring peace regardless of external circumstances.
