The national coach of Nigeria’s national football team, Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has submitted a 19-point proposal for his contract extension with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), including demands for 24-hour uninterrupted electricity at his residence, a $130,000 monthly salary, a private SUV with chauffeur and security, and full autonomy over team selection.
The coach’s proposal specifies that uninterrupted electricity is necessary to support training analysis, staff coordination, and monitoring of players.
The contract reads: “House in a well secured environment with 24hrs uninterrupted power supply {electricity}.”
Chelle proposed a monthly salary of $130,000 (One hundred and thirty thousand dollars), stating that the amount includes payment for all his technical staff and personal assistant.
The contract states: “Proposed salary of $130,000.00 {One hundred and thirty thousand dollars} monthly. This amount includes all my technical staff and PA.”
Chelle also requested a private car with chauffeur, security and GPS to facilitate movement during official duties.
On this, the terms state: “Private car {SUV} with a chauffeur and security. GPS provision.”
The coach demanded full autonomy over team selection and player call-ups.
The proposal reads: “No interference in team selection and players call up.”
Chelle’s terms also cover technical and operational matters, including the right to select opponents for international friendly matches.
The proposal reads: “Based on opponents, the coach has the right of choice regarding int’l friendly matches.”
The coach requested provisions to travel to observe local and foreign-based players for possible integration into national teams.
“Provision for the coach to travel, watch, monitor and engage players of the national teams abroad.
“Provision for the coach to travel to watch the local league to identify potential players that will be integrated into senior national team A, U23, U20 and U17,” the proposal stated.
Chelle requested a furnished office with projector for analysis and internet access.
The contract states: “Furnished office with projector for analysis. Internet provision.”
The coach demanded flight tickets for his wife and two children, with business class for himself and his wife, and economy class for the children.
The contract states: “Flight tickets for wife and two children {Eric and wife Business class} Children economy.”
The proposed agreement provides that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) issue formal working contracts for his technical staff and his personal assistant, with salaries to be paid on or before the 30th of each month, and with bonus and allowance structures.
The terms specify: “The NFF has to issue a working contract for my staff. Salary needs to be paid on or before the 30th of every month. Bonus and allowance as per federation structure. Request to include my PA in the bonus and allowance structure.”
