Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for a ₦500,000 monthly minimum wage for Nigerian workers, insisting that no amount of security presence can stop the ongoing movement for better welfare.
Speaking during a protest on Tuesday, Sowore declared that Nigerian workers deserve a living wage, adding that the campaign for improved salaries would continue despite the deployment of security personnel.
In his words, “Our demand is that Nigerian workers must be paid 500k per month as their minimum wage. Nothing can stop this revolution, not all these zombies behind us, nothing can stop us, all these barb wires cannot stop us. Even the police and army will join us.”
His remarks have sparked fresh conversations online, with some Nigerians backing the call for higher wages due to the rising cost of living, while others questioned whether such a demand is economically realistic.
