The National Sports Commission (NSC) has expressed shock over the death of former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo, who reportedly collapsed and died in Kaduna on Friday.
Eneramo was said to have slumped during a routine training session in the early hours of April 24, 2026, with initial reports pointing to a possible cardiac-related incident.
His death comes amid earlier reports that the ex-international collapsed during a local friendly match in Ungwan Yelwa, Kaduna, after featuring in the first half before the tragic incident occurred shortly into the second half.

Reacting in a statement, the Commission described the development as shocking and painful, noting that the late striker’s impact on Nigerian football would not be forgotten.
“The National Sports Commission has received with deep shock and sadness the news of the passing of former Super Eagles striker, Michael Eneramo.
“The NSC extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former teammates, and the entire Nigerian football community.
“His contributions to Nigerian football will be remembered with pride, and his legacy will continue to inspire the next generation. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement read.
TVC News Online while reporting his death had earlier stated that Eneramo, who earned 10 caps and scored three goals for Nigeria, enjoyed a successful club career spanning Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
He was particularly revered at Esperance Sportive de Tunis, where his performances earned him widespread admiration.
He also featured for several Turkish sides, including Besiktas, Sivasspor and Istanbul Basaksehir.
