Fresh controversy has erupted within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) as a former aide to Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa levels serious allegations of neglect and betrayal against his former principal.
In a revealing account, the aide dismissed claims that his recent actions were motivated by past conflicts with Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.
According to him, MC Oluomo had previously ordered his arrest over allegations of cyberbullying and stalking, leading to a 51-day detention. However, he stated that the experience exposed what he described as Baruwa’s “complete abandonment.”
He alleged that throughout his incarceration, Baruwa failed to provide food, medical support, or even a prison visit. After securing bail, the situation reportedly worsened, as Baruwa allegedly ignored calls for medical assistance despite earlier promises.
The former aide further claimed he began suffering severe health complications after his release, forcing him to seek help elsewhere. He credited one Seyi Bankole for providing financial assistance for medication, both during and after his imprisonment.
In a twist that highlights deep divisions within the union, the aide praised MC Oluomo for stepping in with substantial support. He revealed that MC Oluomo allegedly sent ₦500,000 for his treatment and even arranged travel for him to Lagos.
He also accused Baruwa of refusing to settle legal fees for his defense team, describing the experience as a betrayal by someone he once served closely.
The development adds another layer of intrigue to the ongoing power struggles within the NURTW, reinforcing public perception that internal conflicts within the union are far from ove.
