Obinna Power Celebrates NUPENG President, Comrade Oladiti, on His 100 Days in Office

Tributes and commendations have continued to pour in for the Executive National President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Comrade Otunba Dr. Salimon Akanni Oladiti (JP), as he marks the landmark achievement of 100 days in office.

Oladiti’s milestone underscores his impactful leadership of one of the most influential trade unions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Among those who joined in celebrating this historic occasion is Comrade Dr. Humble Obinna Power, the Pioneer Executive Chairman, SOBAZ Unit Calabar, in the Port Harcourt Zone of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) Branch of NUPENG.

It will be recalled that Comrade Oladiti, a former National Trustee of NUPENG and two-term National Chairman of the PTD Branch, was unanimously elected as President of the Union on April 24, 2026, during the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Lagos.

His emergence marked a significant leadership transition, as he became the first member from the PTD Branch to ascend to the presidency following the tenure expiration of Comrade Williams Akporeha, who served for eight years.

In a statement released to the press on Tuesday, Comrade Obinna Power extolled Oladiti’s leadership qualities, describing his style as inclusive, transparent, accountable, and collaborative.

“I sincerely extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Executive President of NUPENG, Comrade Otunba Dr. Salimon Akanni Oladiti (JP), for steering the Union in the right direction since April 24, 2026.

“Your unwavering commitment to the welfare of members, your dedication to advancing workers’ rights, reconciling aggrieved members, and your consistent efforts in fostering unity, transparency, accountability, and cooperation within the petroleum and natural gas sector are truly commendable.

“Under your stewardship, NUPENG has not only strengthened its organizational structures but has also become a formidable voice in advocating for fair labor practices, improved working conditions, and social justice. Your visionary and courageous leadership has enabled the Union to navigate complex industry challenges while maintaining the trust and confidence of members and stakeholders alike.

“Your ability to balance advocacy with constructive dialogue has positioned NUPENG as a respected partner in national discourse on energy, labor, and economic development. Notable achievements within your tenure include proactive engagement with government institutions, strategic collaborations with industry stakeholders, and relentless pursuit of policies that safeguard the interests of blue-collar oil and gas workers.

“Mr. President, your integrity, resilience, and foresight continue to inspire confidence and set a benchmark for trade union leadership in Nigeria.”

Comrade Obinna Power’s commendation highlights the pivotal role Comrade Oladiti plays in shaping the future of labor relations within the petroleum sector. He stressed that Oladiti’s exemplary leadership remains a source of pride and motivation not only for NUPENG but also for the broader labor movement across Nigeria and beyond.

He concluded his remarks with a prayer and a goodwill message for Comrade Oladiti, expressing optimism for his administration. “We wish you a successful tenure in office, one that will usher in a new era of peace, unity, and prosperity for the Union and for the oil and gas industry at large,” Obinna affirmed.
