Ogidi Confident PDP Will Defeat APC In 2027

PDP chieftain, Emmanuel Ogidi, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will overcome its internal challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the PDP is the only party capable of defeating the ruling APC.

Speaking during an interview with ARISE NEWS on Friday , Ogidi maintained that there is only one legitimate PDP leadership, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), and dismissed rival groups within the party as individuals working for the APC.

On the party’s leadership crisis, he stated:

“There’s one PDP and that’s the one headed by Tanimu Turaki. The other group is not known to the PDP. They are working for the APC.”

Addressing concerns over the prolonged internal dispute, Ogidi insisted the matter would soon be resolved through the courts.

“It will be resolved. We are following due process and very soon it will be clear to everybody.”

On the APC’s alleged role in the PDP’s crisis, he said:

“The only party that can defeat the APC is the PDP. That is why they are doing everything possible to weaken us but by the grace of God, Nigerians will stand behind the PDP.”

Speaking on the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections despite recent defections, Ogidi said:

“Yes, we have lost governors but many of those who left still have PDP in their DNA. They will come back.”

On public confidence in the party, he urged Nigerians to remain patient.

“Nigerians should still be patient with us. We are convinced we are doing the right thing and we are working to resolve every challenge.”

Addressing concerns about the electoral environment ahead of the polls, Ogidi argued that widespread hardship would shape voters’ decisions.

“You cannot politicize hunger. You cannot politicize insecurity. Nigerians have seen everything and they will express their anger on election day.”

On whether the PDP remains prepared for the elections despite the legal disputes, he stated:

“We have our governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates and House of Assembly candidates. We are set and waiting for INEC to do what is right.”

Concluding, Ogidi maintained that despite the party’s challenges, the PDP remains confident of emerging stronger ahead of the next general elections.

“We are not sleeping. We will not disclose everything we are doing but we are confident that Nigerians will stand with the PDP when the time comes.”
