The Ogun State Government has announced a series of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary, with special religious services scheduled to pray for peace, unity and continued development across the country and the state.
The programme will commence with a Special Jumat Service on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta, beginning at 12:00 noon.
A Special Church Service will follow on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, with proceedings scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
According to the state government, the services are designed to provide an opportunity for government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders and other stakeholders to reflect on the significance of Nigeria’s independence and seek divine guidance for the nation’s future.
The government urged residents of Ogun State and other well-meaning Nigerians to participate in the activities as the country marks another milestone in its journey as an independent nation.
It said the anniversary should also serve as a moment for renewed commitment to peace, unity, patriotism, prosperity and sustainable development.
Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed appreciation to the people of Ogun State for their continued support, prayers and partnership with his administration.
The governor also urged citizens to remain committed to the ideals of peace, unity and development as Nigeria continues to confront its challenges and pursue a more prosperous future.
