The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has died at the age of 90.
Sources confirmed that the revered monarch passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, amid ongoing celebrations marking his 90th birthday and the first anniversary of his coronation.
Oba Olakulehin, who ascended the throne in July 2024, succeeded the late Oba Lekan Balogun. He emerged from the Balogun line of the Olubadan traditional chieftaincy succession system.
His brief but symbolic reign was marked by efforts to unite the people of Ibadan and promote cultural heritage. Tributes have begun pouring in from traditional rulers, political leaders, and the people of Oyo State.
