Isaac Fayose, has blamed Nigeria’s worsening insecurity on what he described as selective enforcement of the law and unequal treatment of citizens.
He argued that crimes such as banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram insurgency, and terrorism continue to thrive because the country operates under different standards of justice for different individuals.
According to him, the failure of authorities to take action against alleged violations by politically connected individuals sends the wrong signal and weakens public confidence in the rule of law.
Fayose specifically referenced recent controversies involving media aide Lere Olayinka and alleged access to documents from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), questioning why no action has reportedly been taken despite public complaints surrounding the matter.
“Nigerians, do you know why banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram and terrorism cannot end in Nigeria? It is because the country is lawless. There is one law for some people and another for others,” he said.
He maintained that effective law enforcement, accountability, and equal treatment of all citizens are necessary if Nigeria is to successfully tackle insecurity and restore public trust in its institutions.
