Ooni of Ife Loses Brother 

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has lost his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi.

His death was announced on Sunday, 19 July, 2026, in a statement issued by the Ooni of Ife Leadership Colloquium, which described the late prince as a respected businessman whose life was defined by integrity, visionary leadership and selfless service.

The group said Prince Adetunji made a significant impact in Nigeria’s business sector as Chairman of Primewaterview Limited, earning widespread admiration for his professionalism, commitment to excellence and mentorship of young entrepreneurs.

“It is with profound sadness that we received the news of the passing of Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi. His departure has left family members, friends, associates and many admirers in deep mourning,” the statement said.

According to the colliquium, the late prince exemplified resilience, humility and generosity throughout his lifetime, while dedicating himself to purposeful service in both business and community development.

It noted that his death represents a painful loss not only to the Ogunwusi family but also to Nigeria’s business community and the country’s traditional institution.

The organisation extended its condolences to the Ooni of Ife, praying for strength and comfort for the monarch and the entire Ogunwusi family as they grieve.

It also sympathised with the deceased’s friends, business associates and colleagues, expressing hope that they would find solace during the difficult period.

The statement added that Prince Adetunji’s enduring contributions to commerce, leadership and community service would continue to inspire future generations.

“May Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi rest in perfect peace, while his remarkable legacy continues inspiring generations with dignity, honour, compassion, wisdom and excellence,” the statement said.
